New book soon. “Flight of the Taka Tori” by Frank Leonard.

Frank Leonard has released to us his first book “Flight of the Taka Tori”.

Flight of the Taka Tori.

A tale of intrigue and action, and a reaffirming story of faith in friendship, set across the Milky Way from the deepest reaches of fold-space to the ‘eye-ball’ planet of Utopia-c.  A rich and complex imagining of a very real future stretching across our nearest 2000 light years, where corporations challenge one another for power, supremacy and the holy grail of market share.  Where starships are structured to be fully automated but a two point seven percent improvement in efficiency exists by adding a layer of human employment. Despite their unreliability, dishonesty and general fragility, humans are actually quite well engineered, good at problem solving and can think outside the box. Plus humans are readily available, cheap and disposable.

The giant freighter Taka Tori, on a two year outbound from Ormon Three, carries eight giant cargo modules and eight crew. The other crew might tease Kell about being arachnid-girl but it isn’t like she has a choice of assignment. You took the gig you were given or starved, that is life out in the Edge.

And most importantly, space might be a vacuum but it is still full of the unexplained and unexpected that will turn around and bite you.

Oh, and the Taka Tori’s cargo includes a million spiders.
